Hello, I’m Karen Jane and I’m a graphic artist and designer living and working in London, England. The London chapter started when I moved up from the south coast whilst in the midst of doing an MA in Communications at the Royal College of Art. Previously I’d been learning the ropes from my own studio, designing numerous flyers and record covers.
After rolling out of the RCA, doing the rounds on the London freelance design circuit including a spell at Unorthodox Styles (Crooked Tongues / Spine Magazine); working for global brands (Sony, Nike, Coke); doing smaller project for my friends (Suspect Packages, CliqueNmove); contributing to numerous publications (Untitled Magazine, Tres Logos, 100@360); and doing the odd day at Mr Bongos record emporium (R.I.P) where I met Kam, I decided to set up the label Not Bad For a Girl, as an outlet for some ongoing projects.
Through setting up NBFG, I have been lucky enough to meet and work with some very inspiring people and to indulge my love for music and street culture. In it’s first year NBFG produced limited pieces for New Era and became the first female collaborating artist on the roster for UK streetwear giant Addict Clothing. The forthcoming year will see the release of the first NBFGxAddict collaborations, more gems from NBFG and the launch of further independent projects.
